I have seen them in the stores before, and I believe another member, TT, had mentioned them in a previous life, but I haven't really looked into them too
much. There seems to be quite a few of them.

I haven't heard from any of my toy tester kids about these, but I think they must be popular. I was looking for some other action figures yesterday at
Target, and the Bakugan pegs were completely empty. My nephew is still crazy for Pokemon, but it sounds like this might be a fun thing to get him interested
in. After buying the starter kits, the individual packages seem pretty reasonable.

Bakugan - The backstory, the plot, and the play:
Plot - Bakugan is a game played by kids around the world after the creatures of Vestroia began appearing on Earth in the form of marbles. This dimension rift occurred because one scientist accidentally opened the gateway to Vestroia. That scientist, as mentioned by Naga in episode 1, is Hal-G. Naga, the evil dragon that appears in episode 1, learns of this rift and decides he will use the two cores of Vestroia to take over the two worlds. The only way to stop him is by uniting the six element warriors together and having an ultimate battle where the victor will get the two cores of Vestroia. Once Dan and company learn of this, they begin evolving their talking Bakugan in hopes that one of them may be worthy to inherit the Infinity Core. Meanwhile, Naga is using the negative energy from his core to turn some Bakugans and humans evil (including Masquerade), and the only ones that can turn them back are the Bakugan Battle Brawlers. Now the battle to save two worlds is on, and the odds appear to be stacked against the Battle Brawlers.
Play . . . "Bakugan for Dummies" from some well-intentioned kid on a blog:
Basically, you have your Bakugan marbles and your cards. There are 2-4 players and you each lay down a card (face down) in front of your opponent and their card will be in front of you. Then you take turn shooting your Bakugan.
Once one lands on a card properly it will open. Play continues until 2 Bakugan are on the same card. If they're both yours, you win the card and you take it out of play, if they're not both yours (one yours and one opponent's) then you battle.
Flip the card over. There are different types of cards:
Normal cards, which just have the sector bubbles on the side indicating how much your Bakugan gain/ loses g-points depending on their attribute
Character cards, which will have the name of a Bakugan at the top, and if one of those Bakugans land on the card then their g-points are doubled.
Command cards, which have tiny writing at the bottom of the card indicating that there is something you have to do (commands vary).
The point is to have more g- points than your opponent. Say my Pyros (red) Bakugan has 300gs and my opponent's Haos (silver- white) Bakugan has 350gs, and they landed on the same card, we would flip it over and look on the left of the card where the sector bubbles are and find the red bubble and the white bubble. Inside those bubbles there will be a number such as -50 or 100. This indicates the number of gs that you must add or takeaway from your Bakugan's power level. So if the card said "100" in the red bubble, then I would add 100gs to my Bakugan's power, making it 400gs. And say the white bubble said: "-50"--then I would take off 50gs from my opponent's Bakugan, making it 300gs.
So now it's 400 against 300 and mine's stronger so I take the Bakugans and the card off the field and they're now mine, although I can't use the card again.
Play continues until 1 player runs out of Bakugan. And at the beginning of you're turn, it is your choice to put down another card on the field or not, but if you do put one dow, then one side of the card must always be touching a side of a card that is already on the field.
How simple is that?

I am sure glad my kids aren't old enough for this stuff. I took a look at these in the store and started to get a headache... this tells me that they will
be a big hit with kids. Anything that is difficult to find and impossible to understand by the parents is a must have for a kid. ;)

You're absolutely right! Amazing, isn't it, how kids can figure these out in seconds while the rest of us stand there scratching our heads?

Nothing around here. It seems like they disappear as soon as the hit the shelves :( Hopefully there will be a replenishment soon. I don't think Spinmaster
can keep up with this unexpected craze.

These things are too detailed to turn on a dime and increase production. I would say if you want them for presents for kids, better start hunting now.
